Separation Anxiety

Separation anxiety is normal in very young children. As a child gets older, sometimes that feeling of anxiety when separated from a caregiver doesn't go away.  The child may have a sense that something bad will happen when separated from loved ones either to themselves or to those they are separated from.   They might have a hard time calming down if separation has occured,  refuse sleepovers, camp, or other situations when they are going to be away from their parent, or even insist on not being alone at bedtime.
